The only people that I see this update hurting are those that decided to max out their HoM on multiple characters. Those that have been focusing on a single character (which I would gather many of the dedicated HoM completionists have done) aren't impacted by this at all, other than for the lost opportunity cost of playing their other characters.
As a result, I don't see this update negatively impacting but a very minor portion of the GW community.

That means to me that you put your Warrior FoW in, you go into your hall with your necro, it will display your necro wearing necro FoW.
|
I interpret it completely different, (for the shared Hall of Monuments):
a) Warrior puts Obsidian armor into HoM
b) Warrior goes into HoM, and can see his himself, with all of his armor, including Obsidian
c) Necro, without Obsidian armor, goes into HoM, and does not see Obsidian armor, but sees the sets that he has acquired
d) Necro buys Obsidian armor, and puts it into HoM
e) Necro now sees Obsidian armor, plus his others
The key is this:

I think that they are trying to eliminate the need to display a Warrior in Obsidian armor, a Necro in Elite Necrotic armor, and a Ritualist in Elite Imperial armor, all at the same time. But that's just my interpretation...

The entire point of Account-based HoM display is so that it displays the crap from ALL your characters. If your warrior puts in FoW and your necro enters, it will show the necro FoW.
You can interpret however you want, but being wrong is still wrong. :\

I would watch A-net’s wording on this if I were you. I know many people are hyped up about this but I find that with A-net’s past decisions, it will instead add more confusion regarding the HoM then the actual truth about it. Let’s just say I rather wait to know what I am going to get before I put things way beyond their perspective. This goes hand to hand with the unlock system that will be coming with GW 2, since past lessons have taught me better.

Besides, you can't "fix" a quote when it's directed at an individual post... nice try though?

Now they also need to rework Fellowship to show what each character's pet actually is.

Which is in itself enough for most people. The entire point of HoM is aesthetic, and is the reason a ton of people are joyful about this update.

Yay! Now I can laugh at people who completed more than one HoM. Seriously though, this sold me on GW2. GG A-Net!

any possibility that they make some titles THEMSELVES account-wide? Like.... treasure hunter?

I don't think so and I sure hope they don't.
I'm still waiting for the day that they give characters that were born before the introduction of the survivor title a chance to max it. But don't see that comming...

nice but I am still ticked off that the ONLY armor you cannot display in the HoM is the Dwarven and the fact that Anet didnt tell any of us about this restriction until numerous of us had gotten our armor and turned in what we thought was a bug..THEN anet tells us it cannot be displayed. Anytime you spend that much on armor..it should be displayed. Yes I know this is bringing up an old gripe but I am still ticked off bout this

I kinda liked it the way it was before, as I was getting used to having a "main" character with achievements and secondary characters. Personally would have preferred it if they just made certain titles account based like treasure hunter.
Well guess this means I'm officially retired from doing any more HM stuff.

You misunderstand, probably due to how ANet structured that sentence. What they mean in what you quote, is that you do not see the character who displayed the armor, you see the character you on, in their version of that armor.
Meaning:
1) Warrior puts in Obsidian Armor into HoM
2) Necro enters account-based HoM
3) Necro sees necro in a necro Obsidian armor, even though a necro obsidian armor was never put up.
4) Necro does not see a warrior in obsidian armor.

1) rewards are still rewards, therefore, still an incentive (although not a big one ).
2) can you cite your source for "reads like its doing away with monks."? I don't recall seeing that. Besides, the worse a monk will get is either a revamp, or a replacement. You MUST have a healer.
3) You can always fix posts that are not fully correct .

A reward is not inherently an incentive. The literary concept of a malicious djinni explores the whole mindset behind this particular situation.

The concept of HoM goes against the original design of the game skill > time since only a limited number of max titles can be considered skillful.
The problem that many have had with HOM is the requirement to grind multiple characters.
This is now solved by making account wide. But this doesnt take away the grind at all and continues to reward grinding instead of skill.
So the problem is still there. Most people have accepted grinding. I see it as the flaw.
It is stupid. And my opinion is valid, wether you like it or not.
Ive had many ideas to solve this before, but it requires radical shift in thinking and most people too uncomfortable with thinking much less radical thinking.

Yay! Now if only they can make these changes:
- Allow Dwarven armor to be added
- Allow more customization to monuments (select which title statues, pets, etc. go where instead of completely random)
- Allow all weapon types to be added
- Let each type of pet have its own statue (especially rainbow phoenix)
Glad I didn't blow money on the Destroyer bow to add, I didn't like it anyway. I'd rather have the Tormented one. Seriously hope they don't skyrocket in price too much...

They probably will. If you were smart, you'd buy one now, or soon at least.
